Hi there, I’m Stephanie Zappelli, a first year English major switching into journalism. Music is the glue that holds my life together, so for this website, I wanted to talk with students who felt the same way. Musicians are a splash of color on the STEM backdrop of Cal Poly, and I thought they might have some great stories people would want to hear. The music business is a tough business, and I am curious to see why students would thrust themselves into such an unforgiving world, and what about music softens the blow of the industry and makes them so passionate that they want to pursue it for the rest of their lives.

The mission of Music for Your Mind is to share the stories of Cal Poly students who have changed their major to music, to explore how music impacts the lives of these students, and to study the reasons why students at a polytechnic university, notorious for its STEM programs, would transfer to the music program.
